Today's students are all navigating more stress than ever — academic pressure, social media, and the everyday challenges of adolescence. CALM Art (Creative Alpha-wave Lessons for Mindfulness) gives students a guided, hands-on way to slow down, process what they're feeling, and reset.
Each workshop pairs simple mindfulness techniques with meditative art-making. No artistic experience required — CALM Art is designed to help every student access their own creativity while giving their mind a genuine break from the noise.

At Frontier, Hueneme, Condor, and Pacifica High Schools, over 98% of students were fully engaged throughout their CALM Art workshops — a level of buy-in that's hard to achieve with a traditional wellness lesson.
Constant stress and overstimulation keep the brain locked in high-alert Beta and Gamma wavelengths. The creative process shifts the mind into Alpha wavelengths — the same relaxed, focused state associated with better sleep, lower stress, and improved emotional regulation. CALM Art uses that science intentionally, not by accident.
Many participants haven't picked up a paintbrush or drawing pencil since childhood. CALM Art sessions are built to meet people exactly where they are, with gentle guidance that makes room for whatever comes up. No art skills needed.

Founder Jill Covell, MFA, ATP, and Certified Master Mindset Life Coach, developed CALM Art out of her own healing journey through cancer, combining her fine arts background with mindfulness and art therapy practice. Students and staff aren't just getting an activity — they're getting a facilitator who deeply understands the connection between creativity and emotional wellness.
Whether you're a school, a care organization, or a support group, we'll build a schedule and format that works for your group's needs.
A cancer diagnosis — or any major life challenge — can leave you searching for a way to process what your mind and body are going through. CALM Art offers a gentle, supportive space to do exactly that, and it's already been welcomed into cancer centers, survivor support groups, and community wellness programs across Ventura County and throughout Southern California.
Formats include single-session support group classes, multi-week series for ongoing groups, half- and full-day adult retreats, seasonal and themed workshops, and virtual/Zoom sessions for participants who can't attend in person.
